Bil-Malti

I am putting it out there I.HATE.PLAYING.WITH.MY.CHILDREN!!!

Give me arts and crafts, give me hikes and the beach but not playing. There I said it!

Thing is, I tend to get so caught up in not wanting to play that despite saying yes to them I end not being present…I either flip through my phone or just zone out (like thinking I could be writing this post!). This is sooo easy to do- especially when I am asked to go round and round a track with a car and can do nothing else!

There are times though like today, where I decided to make an extra effort and be truly present with my 6 yo. Yes, it was boring and it wasn’t as boring as I thought and we did have fun together. We laughed and we ran after each other and raced cars and I loved the connection we built in that moment. The simple joy of spending time together.

So, I am reminding myself to not forget the power of playing to build connections.
