The greatest heartache as a mother is not being able to help your children.

You see them sick- coughing themselves to sleep- and you can’t do anything except support them and giving them medication.

You see their mental health issues, you know how to get them in a different mindset AND they need to want that. It is heartbreaking, doing your best but not being able to do more to take away the pain, the fear, the darkness.

You see their struggle at school and you can only encourage them and love them in whatever space they are right now.

There is only so much that we can do to help and protect our children. The rest, they need to do on their own. Our role in most of these situations is just a support system, letting them know we are here, we believe in them and that we love them no matter what.

It is a humbling lesson. Reminding me that I am not the Divine, not God and can’t do what I wish to do.
